Advent is a time of preparing and waiting, a moment to wonder about what it means for you to expect that transforming, redeeming, restorative love is being born into this world over and over again.
Advent is a time of longing and yearning, a moment to notice where the deep desires of your heart and imagination of what could be meet the deep needs and tender cries of the earth and all its creatures.
Advent is a time of staying awake and paying attention, a moment to open your heart to what this time in our collective experience is teaching us and how it is inviting us con-spire (breathe with) the Breath of Life stirring in and around us.
Advent is a time of promises and visions, a moment to dream freedom’s dreams and hold fast to the possibilities that are emerging in the midst of empire’s crushing domination and power-preserving divisiveness.
“If we stay awake;
if we open our eyes in the midst of our life,
with all of its wildness and wonders, then we will see:
something is coming.
Drawing closer.
Stealing home.
How will you stay awake in this season?
What do you long for the weeks ahead to look like?
How might you find God’s response to those longings in the rhythm of your life, in the midst of your days?”
– Jan Richardson
Inhale: I can pause and listen.
Exhale: Silence is a portal.
